2015 has been a great year for Made in Ratio. We were busy with trade fairs in Milan, Paris and London and to top it off an exhibition at the prestigious National Gallery Victoria in Australia. In between there has been numerous events and talks, not forgetting the development and launch of our newest product the Alpha Chair.

We were thrilled to return to Fuorisalone in Milan for the third year running and even more pleased at the incredible positive response to our installation from friends and clients, media and public, other designers and makers, and architects and buyers. It was the perfect place to launch our new product the Alpha chair and the response we got to the piece was phenomenal. The Alpha Chair has made a place for itself as one of Made in Ratio's stand out pieces due to its design and craft which organically and sensually moulds all the components into one, reinforcing our commitment to forward-thinking design.

The summer kicked off with Clerkenwell Design Week where we were asked to sponsor and design The Green Room for Conversations at Clerkenwell at Design Factory. The programme of talks at the Farmiloe Building has become an important arena in which to introduce and discuss new products, raise industry issues and network with fellow A&D professionals so we were more than happy to give our support. The Green Room by Made in Ratio was a bespoke installation of our critically acclaimed Cowrie Chairs and Supernova coffee table where speakers relaxed before and after their talks.

September was an incredibly busy month starting off with our debut at Maison & Objet in Paris. It was an incredibly hectic weekend and a fantastic opportunity to meet retailers, architects and other designers from Europe and Worldwide. Alongside the Alpha chair other notable pieces on show included the Cowrie Chair and Rocker, the award-winning Supernova Table and the modular Tetra Shelf, which we unveiled in Walnut. Our Tetra shelves in Walnut have proved incredibly popular and are quickly becoming one of Made in Ratio's most popular pieces.

Mid-September saw the unveiling of an exhibition of Made in Ratio and Brodie Neill designs at the National Gallery Victoria in Melbourne which resulted in our first museum acquisition of the Made in Ratio collection. We're thrilled that the Cowrie Rocker is now part of the museum's permanent collection and will sit alongside the likes of Lockheed Lounge and other great objects of design that make up the prestigious collection.

A very-busy September finished with Made in Ratio making a return to designjunction for the third consecutive year. We were very excited to be part of the new era of the fair at the former Central St Martins art & design school and greatly enjoyed presenting the Made in Ratio collection in such a creative and inspirational building.

We're very much looking forward to another busy year as 2016 fast approaches. We're busy at work planning our stand for the upcoming Maison Objet in Paris in January 2016 and have many more exciting projects on the horizon.

Happy New year from everyone at the Made in Ratio studio.

After the great success of our debut at Maison & Objet Paris back in September we're pleased to announce our return to the fair in January 2016. We're currently busy at work putting the finishing touches to the design of our stand and really looking forward to showcasing more of our products at such an inspirational show.

More details to follow in the new year.

The Alpha Chair's smooth lines are as a result of organic engineering taking inspiration from the growth of natural formations like this whale bone. Digitally designed, the Alpha chair form is dissected into 6 components that are individually CNC shaped before being assembled back into the single form using a range of traditional and contemporary woodworking techniques.

The name Alpha is derived from the strong architectural gesture that gives the chair it's inherent strength: the A shaped structure of the back legs and backrest that are organically and sensually moulded into one.

National Gallery of Victoria Acquisition

We are delighted to announce our first museum acquisition of the Made in Ratio collection of the Cowrie Rocker into the permanent collection of the National Gallery Victoria in Melbourne Australia. We're thrilled that our very first piece launched back in 2013 as part of our debut collection will sit alongside the likes of Lockheed Lounge and other great objects of design that make up the prestigious collection. Photographed here at the NGV Melbourne as part of the Rigg Design exhibition which is currently running until February 2016.
