After the great success of our debut at Maison & Objet Paris back in September we're pleased to announce our return to the fair in January 2016. We're currently busy at work putting the finishing touches to the design of our stand and really looking forward to showcasing more of our products at such an inspirational show.

More details to follow in the new year.

The Alpha Chair's smooth lines are as a result of organic engineering taking inspiration from the growth of natural formations like this whale bone. Digitally designed, the Alpha chair form is dissected into 6 components that are individually CNC shaped before being assembled back into the single form using a range of traditional and contemporary woodworking techniques.

The name Alpha is derived from the strong architectural gesture that gives the chair it's inherent strength: the A shaped structure of the back legs and backrest that are organically and sensually moulded into one.

National Gallery of Victoria Acquisition

We are delighted to announce our first museum acquisition of the Made in Ratio collection of the Cowrie Rocker into the permanent collection of the National Gallery Victoria in Melbourne Australia. We're thrilled that our very first piece launched back in 2013 as part of our debut collection will sit alongside the likes of Lockheed Lounge and other great objects of design that make up the prestigious collection. Photographed here at the NGV Melbourne as part of the Rigg Design exhibition which is currently running until February 2016.

Made in Ratio will return to designjunction next week for the third consecutive year where we will present a conceptual room-installation, recreating the flexible living-dining-working space of the modern home within the old Central St Martins building.

The key focus for our installation will be the international launch of the production-ready Alpha Chair that was presented as a prototype at FuoriSalone earlier this year. We will also unveil the Tetra modular trapezoid shelving unit in solid Walnut, which can be used as a single unit or built up to create endless configurations to suit any space. The installation will present celebrated designs from our collection designed over the last three years, including the Cowrie Chairs, the Supernova Table and the Pleat Bench.

Presented as theatrical vignettes, the exhibition concept will showcase the versatility of the Made in Ratio furniture; for example, the Supernova table can be used as a high dining table or work desk or a low coffee table. Equally, the new Alpha Chair is a solid-wood all-purpose chair suitable for dining, living and work environments.

We are very excited to be part of the new era of designjunction at the former art & design schooland showcase our collaborative and explorative approach to design. Our installation will convey our fascination with achieving a precise balance between boundary-pushing design and traditional craftsmanship, natural and manmade material, artisan processes and cutting-edge technologies.
