Made in Ratio launches new Elements table at Biennale Interieur 2016

International furniture brand Made in Ratio by Brodie Neill makes its debut at the Silver Edition of Biennale Interieur with the Elements table.

Harnessing an acute sensitivity to materials through the juxtaposition of a marble base, a stainless-steel stem and a solid wood top, the Elements table unifies three distinct geometries to form one function.

Each material was carefully chosen for its inherent value, which best fulfills its function: the marble for its stability, the steel for its strength and the wood for its tactility. The arrangement of the materials creates a carefully reduced form that is both elegant and anthropomorphic in silhouette.

Available in an array of wood finishes and stone bases, the table can be customised to suit any interior.

"The Elements table is an exciting new addition to the Made in Ratio collection, continuing the brands quest in applying traditional furniture materials in contemporary form.  Each component of Elements utilises its unique material attributes applied to the stability, elevation and functionality of a simple yet charismatic table.  It’s almost primitive geometry gives the table a nimble versatility whilst being able to mix’n’match the tones of marble and stained oak to suit any need.

Biennale Interieur has long been a favourite on the design calendar and I am pleased to be debuting new Made in Ratio designs as part of the silver anniversary edition"

Made in Ratio at FuoriSalone 2016

Made in Ratio created a moment of theatre at the flagship store in Milan's Brera district. The tableau united the sinuous dynamism of Made in Ratio furniture with the minimal elegance of the collection.

Our key focus at this year's FuoriSalone was the launch of the Cowrie Leather Chair. The gently folding monocoque structure features a moulded fine-leather seat-pad that mimics the contours of the chair's undulations.  Inspired by the concave lines of sea shells, the curvilinear form of the chair is the result of an extensive research and innovation process that bridges the handmade with the digital.

Additional designs on exhibit comprised key pieces from the core collection including the Alpha chair, launched to great critical acclaim at FuoriSalone 2015 and the versatile Supernova desk.

Made in Ratio return to Maison & Objet in Paris 22-26 January 2016

Location: Stand B162, Hall 7 now! design à vivre

Dates: Friday 22 – Tuesday 26 January 2016

Opening Times: Friday to Monday: 9:30am - 7:00pm; Tuesday: 9:30am - 6:00pm

Following the success at the September edition of Maison & Objet, furniture brand Made in Ratio will return to Paris this January to present an updated collection by designer Brodie Neill.

The sculpturally dynamic installation featuring a three-tiered plinth made from Echo Panel, a completely reusable acoustic surface made from recycled PET plastic, will present three furniture ensembles.

Illustrating the versatility of the designs, the Supernova will be presented as both a high desk and a low coffee table, the Tetra modular shelving system will be showcased in a new configuration and stacked Alpha chairs will be displayed in multiple colourways and materials. The expanded Cowrie Collection will be presented including a Cowrie chair featuring a moulded fine-leather seat-pad that mimics the contours of the chair’s undulations. Made in Ratio will also introduce the Pleat bench, a graceful arch of thermoformed Corian, for the first time to the French market at Maison & Objet.

The collection presented at Maison & Objet will illustrate designer Brodie Neill’s ethos of researching and testing new possibilities of design and production and to fuse the precision of digital technology with the poetry of time-honoured materials and traditional craftsmanship.  By utilising advanced digital design, the products are imbued with a spirit of innovation and by working alongside some of the finest craftspeople in Europe and championing natural materials, the designs evoke an emotional connection that only products genuinely completed by hand conjure.

Designer and Creative Director Brodie Neill comments: “We were very pleased with the incredible response our debut presentation received at the recent September edition of the Fair. We look forward to returning to Paris later this month to have the opportunity to present a more dynamic installation and an expanded collection, which shows our commitment to innovative materials and environmentally sustainable design while maintaining a high level of style and quality”.

2015 has been a great year for Made in Ratio. We were busy with trade fairs in Milan, Paris and London and to top it off an exhibition at the prestigious National Gallery Victoria in Australia. In between there has been numerous events and talks, not forgetting the development and launch of our newest product the Alpha Chair.

We were thrilled to return to Fuorisalone in Milan for the third year running and even more pleased at the incredible positive response to our installation from friends and clients, media and public, other designers and makers, and architects and buyers. It was the perfect place to launch our new product the Alpha chair and the response we got to the piece was phenomenal. The Alpha Chair has made a place for itself as one of Made in Ratio's stand out pieces due to its design and craft which organically and sensually moulds all the components into one, reinforcing our commitment to forward-thinking design.

The summer kicked off with Clerkenwell Design Week where we were asked to sponsor and design The Green Room for Conversations at Clerkenwell at Design Factory. The programme of talks at the Farmiloe Building has become an important arena in which to introduce and discuss new products, raise industry issues and network with fellow A&D professionals so we were more than happy to give our support. The Green Room by Made in Ratio was a bespoke installation of our critically acclaimed Cowrie Chairs and Supernova coffee table where speakers relaxed before and after their talks.

September was an incredibly busy month starting off with our debut at Maison & Objet in Paris. It was an incredibly hectic weekend and a fantastic opportunity to meet retailers, architects and other designers from Europe and Worldwide. Alongside the Alpha chair other notable pieces on show included the Cowrie Chair and Rocker, the award-winning Supernova Table and the modular Tetra Shelf, which we unveiled in Walnut. Our Tetra shelves in Walnut have proved incredibly popular and are quickly becoming one of Made in Ratio's most popular pieces.

Mid-September saw the unveiling of an exhibition of Made in Ratio and Brodie Neill designs at the National Gallery Victoria in Melbourne which resulted in our first museum acquisition of the Made in Ratio collection. We're thrilled that the Cowrie Rocker is now part of the museum's permanent collection and will sit alongside the likes of Lockheed Lounge and other great objects of design that make up the prestigious collection.

A very-busy September finished with Made in Ratio making a return to designjunction for the third consecutive year. We were very excited to be part of the new era of the fair at the former Central St Martins art & design school and greatly enjoyed presenting the Made in Ratio collection in such a creative and inspirational building.

We're very much looking forward to another busy year as 2016 fast approaches. We're busy at work planning our stand for the upcoming Maison Objet in Paris in January 2016 and have many more exciting projects on the horizon.

Happy New year from everyone at the Made in Ratio studio.
